We try to offer as much respect as we can for our
livestock. We want to see them healthy, and happy. It
is our goal that our animals spend as much time out in
the fields as possible. We are looking in to a
technology that would even allow us to finish animals
on grain in the pastures, so they wouldn't have to be
separated from the breeding stock.
We do not believe in either the use of hormone
implants or of feeding hormones or antibiotics.
Commercial feedlots use these practices to increase
growth rate, and to hide or ward off illness. We do
however vaccinate our animals for common diseases
and treat sick animals with the appropriate medicines.
We also deworm and use fly control when it is needed.
We want to be natural but we need to be humane as
well. We will not sell an animal if it has been ill and
treated with medication without the customer's
knowledge and consent, and only well after the
mandatory withdrawal time.
