Bauer Custom Meats is a family owned and operated
business by Anthony and Sandy Bauer. We were raised
in the Chicago land area and studied agriculture in
Montana. In 2000 we moved back to Illinois and
embarked on our life long dream of raising our own food.
We began with chickens and we were immediately
hooked on it. No more grocery store birds are wanted
here. Beef and lamb followed the next year. We have
expanded to include pork the last couple of years.
We currently care for approximately 450 Angus cows and
their calves, a herd of Dexter cows and their calves,
various breeding bulls, a herd of ewes and their lambs,
pigs, a flock of chickens, as well as laying hens and their
roosters. A small herd of goats mingle with the livestock.
We also care for an ever expanding handful of personal
pets including dogs, cats and a couple milk cows.
