Bauer Custom Meats is a family owned and operated
business by Anthony and Sandy Bauer. We were raised
in the Chicagoland area and studied agriculture in
Montana. In 2000 we moved back to Illinois and began
investing in our dream of raising our own food. We
started with chickens and we were immediately hooked
on it. No more grocery store birds are wanted here. Beef
and lamb followed the next year. This year we tried our
hand at pork.
We currently care for 140 Angus cows and their calves,
15 Dexter cows and their calves, 40 ewes and their
lambs, 7 bulls, 4 rams, two turkeys, a flock of "wild"
guinea fowl, and a handful of laying hens and their
roosters. Our home is filled to the brim with the help of
our pet dogs and cats.
